Zoo Day

Evan has been asking to go to the zoo for months. He has gone a handful of times and really enjoyed it. The last time he went was when John and I were out of town at Jason and Melissa's wedding and Emily, their babysitter, took them. It was when Evan ask me, "Mom, can you see if Miss Emily can come babysit me again so I can go to the zoo?" that I knew my Mom of the Year nomination was solidified. My child was asking FOR a babysitter so he could do something fun. Mom fail.

Coincidentally both my mom and John's mom had said they wanted to see the boys. Ahhhh, Grandmoms! They are the best! And it sweetens the pot when they ask to see the boys! When both of them said they wanted to see my monkeys, I responded "welllll, I was thinking about taking them to the zoooo...." So I enlisted their help for a zoo day. With one runner and one climber, this momma needed back up.

The kids saw lots of animal...for about 3.5 seconds. They weren't too interested in sticking around each exhibit for too long. That being said, we were there 3 hours and didn't even get to each section. Our zoo rocks!!

We saw lots of animals.

John and I call these two boys monkeys all the time. I told them a couple times I was going to drop them off at the monkey exhibit, but both just laughed at me. Not sure what they think that was funny...

I saw a lot of the back of their heads.

The sea lion show was educational and entertaining to 4 of the 5 people with us. Luke likes a little more action in his shows.

There were so many cool exhibits, that the boys didn't care anything about, but I would have loved to read all about. Ahhhh, in 18 years maybe. ;)

But what I loved most of all was seeing the boys together. Neither one wanted to be without the other. Their bond is so sweet. Yes, they are still brothers and aggravate each other sometimes, but a majority of the time they always want to be together. I wanted my boys the be good brothers to one another. I think what I got was boys who will be best friends.

And this picture cracks me up. I literally laugh out loud every time I look at it. I see my future with two sullen teenagers. Y'all pray for me.

It's only 7:30...

It's 7:30am...the boys have been awake since 5:30. My coffee is only 1/4 the way finished but somehow I managed to finish 3/4 of that bottle of medicine behind it (last night that is...don't call DCS just yet).

Evan, sitting on the counter bouncing up and down says in one complete breath, "What are we going to do today? Where are we going? It's raining so we have to stay inside. Where can we go that's inside?"

I look at him through a half veiled eye and tell him, "It's is not even 7:30 yet. You are going to sit on that couch and watch cartoons like a normal 5 year old."

He looks at me with those two deep dimples and sparkling eyes and says, "You know mommy, if you watch too much TV it's not good for you."

School again....by a 5 year old. But dear little cute 5 year old, even though you and your brother (who is equally as cute) woke me up at 5:30 and I threatened to sell you to the highest bidder, when you are passed out at 3pm even though you tell me you aren't tired, I am going to steal a some time just staring at you sleep because I know those moments are going to be few and far between in the years to come.
