Spring Break started a week ago today for us. We had a half day on Friday which means the boys and I headed home early! On the way home E and I had this conversation.
Evan: Mom, is it Spring Break?
Me: Yes, honey.
Evan: Well, where are we going?
Me: What do you mean? We are going home.
Evan: {in a totally exasperated teenage voice} Noooooo, I mean where are we going Spring Break?
Me: Well, we can go to the park and to The Big Backyard and we might even go to the zoo.
Evan: I want to go to Disney world....or Colorado...or Memphis.
Me: {jumping on this last suggestion} Memphis, huh? I can take you to Memphis!
Evan: Will there be toys??
One track mind. While I hated to lead him astray and make him actually think we were going somewhere, I hated to crush his little spirit of the glorious thing that Spring Break actually is. All his sweet friends were going places, and with a 2.5 year old and John's work schedule, it just wasn't in the plans.
We actually didn't do as much as I thought we would, but we still had fun.
Monday:
It was in the 40's...for the high! So we hit Chik-fil-a. Evan was bored within 10 minutes and Luke just wanted to play with the door. More kids arrived and Evan started having fun. We had to leave when some boys were playing too rough with E. Evan didn't complain because they were playing 'bad guys' but I didn't want him getting the idea we play that rough with people.
After nap, we played with some sidewalk chalk on the patio. To be honest, the kids seemed more excited about that than Chik-fil-a. Note to self.
Tuesday
We hit up Kid's Play since it was $5 for kids under 3! With this huge play area and all these options, but 2.5 year old wanted to play with the water fountain. Love my Luke.
I'll admit. This was how they were at snack and I knew momma needed some supplementation. I know Luke looks innocent here, but that sippy cup of milk is .05 seconds away from going flying across the room.
Wednesday
We had a playdate with the Albaughs and Greens. This couldn't' have come at a better time! It was still cold (highs in the 40's) and the kids were really sick me being the only person they saw everyday. Evan almost cracked when I told him they have a dog, but we looked at pictures and talked about how he wasn't allowed to be scared until the dog did something scary. To his very literal mind, that made sense. Luke hasn't been a huge fan of dogs, but in true Luke fashion, he surprised me. He cuddled right up with that dog and didn't move for about 15 or 20 minutes. That HAS to be the most patient dog ever.
The kids had a blast and this momma needed some mom chatter!
Thursday
Luke had some therapies Thursday morning so mom let Evan come play at her house all morning. We tried to hit the park after that, but both of them kept asking to go home. I guess too much away from home isn't a great thing. We did spend some time outside after nap and the boys and I ate UP the vitamin D! **Editor's note - these were definitely shot on different days. My kids don't wear 3 different shirts in one day. Well, some days they do, but not this day. I just like the sunshine outdoor pictures. :) And we spent the most time outside on Thursday. It's my blog..I do what I want.
Whooo hoo! Lunch outside! |
Friday
We went to the Big Backyard. I took my real camera since the place is so scenic. John took the day off so it was a divide a conquer situation. The next part of this blog post is going to be a ton of pictures of my cute kids. Again, my blog...I do what I want. :)
If you made it this far, congrats! It wasn't a jam packed Spring Break, but we had fun being together. :)
