Luke has been interested in space for a long time. When the second grade biography play came around, he got to pretend for just a little bit that he was walking on the moon!
Each child chooses someone that positively affected our country or the world and takes a deep dive into their life. Luke chose Neil Armstrong. Through this, we learned a lot about his life leading up to that fateful day he took the very first steps on the moon. His journey was pretty amazing.
After all the knowledge was retained, Luke picked his 'lines' for the play. He determined the most important parts to highlight for the audience.
We next went on a search for a costume. Because my frugal side appears most often in life, I did not want to pay $50 for an astronaut outfit he would wear once. So I started looking at what we had in our 'costume drawer' and found this! It looks spacey right?? John told me everyone would know what it was....I doubt it. He looks like a pretty cool astronaut to me. A good friend had the helmet and we were set!
Luke delivered his lines perfectly, stood in a tableau beautifully, and sang his little heart out! We couldn't have asked for a better performance to show off his newly gained knowledge.
